International Expansion Drives Monthly Multimillion-Dollar Revenue Growth for Vacation Rental Aggregator

Challenge:

Faced with a significant downturn in business in the US and Canada due to the loss of inventory, resulting in a substantial negative impact on conversion rates and monetization. This situation led to decreased profit margins and limited ability to secure top positions in the market. The company was heavily dependent on the US market.

Solution:

The company chose to expand into international markets as a strategic move to diversify its portfolio, mitigating the effects of seasonality and tapping into less competitive markets with lower CPC. I developed a comprehensive roadmap that prioritized countries and destinations based on local demand, competitive metrics, and existing inventory.

I collaborated with Google teams to leverage travel demand data insights, ensuring the effective localization of the platform. Additionally, I conducted thorough analyses and research on keywords, ads, and other market-specific factors for each targeted international market.

To streamline marketing efforts, I implemented logic-driven, automated campaign creation. Campaigns were successfully launched across Google and Bing in top destinations within selected markets, with optimization and gradual expansion preceding replication of this success in additional markets and destinations.

Results:

  • Successfully launched in 15 markets across 6 languages.

  • Gross revenue increased from $0 to a multimillion-dollar per month

  • Achieving nearly a 200% Return on Advertising Spend (RoAS).

  • Spain emerged as the largest market by bookings.
